HireVue is best known for video interviewing and AI-scored assessments. We did not find a resume ranking or knockout feature on its public pages, so it is less an alternative to TrueScan HR than a tool for a later stage of the same process.

What HireVue Says About Its AI

HireVue's 2026 Explainability Statement says: "Our AI-scored interviews don't replace recruiters. They simply help recruiters and talent acquisition teams assess more candidates quickly, consistently, and accurately." It adds that Interview Insights summaries "are not designed to replace human interview review, nor do they automate or recommend hiring decisions," and that "Employers remain fully responsible for how interview information is interpreted, weighted, and used within their hiring processes."

Audits

HireVue says it "routinely conduct[s] third-party audits on our tools," and cites an audit by O'Neil Risk Consulting and Algorithmic Auditing that concluded its "assessments work as advertised with regard to fairness and bias issues." In January 2023 it announced it had engaged DCI Consulting Group to audit its algorithms under New York City Local Law 144. For Assessment Builder, it describes "a clear audit trail for each assessment created."

An employer could use both: TrueScan HR to decide who to interview, and an interview platform to structure the interviews. Either way, each automated step is part of the selection process California's rules cover, so each needs its own documentation.
